Corvallis Folklore Society Folk Music Award
The Corvallis Folklore Society offers $200 each to the student at Corvallis High School and the student at Crescent Valley High School who best exemplify the performance of folk music, either in performance of folk music in a traditional way or in the performance of original music in the folk tradition. While it is understood that "the folk tradition" encompasses a broad latitude of style, instruments and sound, all entries should be acoustic music only. To be eligible the student must be registered at any grade level at either high school. The student must submit a sound recording, on either a cassette tape or CD, of a song or performance, not to exceed five minutes in length. All entries must be submitted by April 1st. Submissions must be clearly labeled and accompanied by the completed application form listing the following information: student name and school, name of performance piece and composer, student address, phone number and e-mail address. Winners will be announced by April 10. Winners will perform a song set at the April edition of Local Folk, the CFS open-mike program.
